So, I admit it. I’ve been a slacker lately. With the holidays (lame excuse I know) and some personal issues the blog has fallen on the backburner more than I should have let it. I’m trying to get back into the habit of posting regularly though. What better way to start than showcasing the pretty polishes that joined my collection last month?

I didn’t turn into a crazy polish buying fool in December, I had an amazing secret swap partner who bought a ton of older polishes that I missed out on and spoiled me rotten. I also got the Ciate Manicure calender and used it for an advent calender leading up to Christmas. Lastly, I made a quick trip into Ulta and they finally had a stocked Essence section and I was able to find the polishes I was looking for.

November Haul

Here are the polishes I found myself unable to live without this month. I bought way too much considering I’m participating in a secret swap and shouldn’t have purchased anything. Most of the non-Julep ones were from trades or blog sales so its not as bad as it seems.

September Haul

After being so good in August, I bought a bunch of polishes in September. Just for reference, here’s what I bought last September. There were some amazing sales though and I was able to knock a few big items off my wishlist like OPI Black Spotted, Zoya Harlow and Illamasqua Hemlock. Now if only I could get my hands on Illamasqua Raindrops…

Illamasqua Hemlock, OPI Black Spotted, OPI DS Reserve, Reflection and Extravagance. Can you believe my Ulta just stocked up on these DS polishes? I was more than happy to pick up some of them.

OPI Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, If You Moust You Mouse, German-icure, My Very First Knockwurst and Schnapps Out of It!

Zoya NYFW  trios Julie, Gie Gie, Piaf, Sharon, Jacqueline and Neely. The Zang Toi trio came with a bonus Trixie but I’ve already swapped it away since it was a duplicate.

Zoya Tanzy, Jolene, Harley, Charity, Alegra and Kelly. Technically these are from August since that’s when I ordered them but they didn’t get here until the first week in October. I guess Zoya bit off more than they could chew with their BOGO promo.

June Hauls

Happy July to everyone! Can you believe we are in the seventh month of 2012? Crazy.

These are the polishes I swapped or purchased in June 2012. Actually most of them were swapped. Let’s get to the fun stuff shall we?

Color Club Blossoming Collection (L-R): Blushing Rose, Blue-Ming, Lavendarling, Sweet Pea, Hydrangea Kiss and Diamond Drops. I purchases these polishes.

Color Club Take Wing Collection (L-R): Daisy Does It, Sparkle and Soar, Fly With Me, Metamorphosis, Sky High and Wing Fling. I purchased these also.

Cult Nails Fairytale Collection (L-R): Feelin’ Froggy, Happy Ending, Princess, Evil Queen and Charming. I purchased these also but in my defense, I purchased them in May but they arrived in June.

China Glaze, Awakening, Electric Beat, Fairy Dust and Flying Dragon (Neon Version). OPI Pedal Faster Suze which I’m wearing now. These are the last few I purchased.

China Glaze, Foie Gras, Dress Me Up, Vertical Rush, Thataway. Models Own Pro Lilac Lite. I swapped for these.

Hard Candy Splendid, Essie East Hampton Cottage, Essie Ridge Filler, OPI I Juggle …Men, OPI Suzi and the Lifeguard, and OPI Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It. I swapped for these also.

Sonnetarium Samari Princess, Color Club Covered in Diamonds, Estee Lauder Chameleon Prism, NYC Matte Topcoat, NYC Starry Silver GLitter, Catrice Aretha’s R-E-S-PINK, and Cult Nails Feel Me Up. I swapped for these also. I’m not going to lie, I partially wanted the Estee Lauder because the bottle looks like an ice cube with a little bit of nail polish inside.

Starting from the top, Julep Alyson, Annette, Emma, and Renee. I swapped for these.

China Glaze Dance Baby, China Glaze Flirty Tankini, China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic, OPI Call Me Gwen-Ever, Orly Jealous, Much? and Orly Prelude to a Kiss. These polishes were given to me in a secret swap.

Zoya Moxie, A England Saint George, A England Lady of the Lake and Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream. This is the second part of a secret swap.

You Pick Thursday! Julep Alyson

Today’s You Pick Thursday! is Julep Alyson. I received Alyson in a swap not too long ago and this is my first time wearing it. I was actually going to purchase it with the last of my Julep gift card and I received it the next afternoon. Win!

Alyson is an almond creme polish. With most Julep polishes, one coat has been opaque but with Alyson I needed two. The first coat applied sort of streaky but the second coat evened everything out.

Julep June Mystery Box

I must confess -I bought the June Mystery Box. However, I like to think of it as playing with the House’s money. In a previous mystery box (the one before Cinco de Mayo I think) I received a gift certificate for $50 and used that to buy this box. So, if it sucks I wasn’t out any of my money and if it was awesome, I still win. Score!

In this mystery box I received January, Amy, Gayle and a Fast Dry topcoat. I also received a Daylight Defense lip balm and a nail file. The only duplicate was January and I love her enough to keep her. Julep must have my number because I’m absolutely addicted to lip balm in general.

All in all, this was a great mystery box for me. Would I have preferred the larger one? Sure! But I’m okay with this one. Did you succumb to the allure of the mystery box this month?

You Pick Thursday! Julep Portia

Today’s You Pick Thursday! is Julep Portia. Julep Portia is a sheer blue polish with holographic glitter. I got her in a swap not too long ago but haven’t worn her yet.

Since Portia is a sheer shade, I layered one coat over two coats of Orly Sapphire Silk. Sapphire Silk is my absolute favorite blue so I always reach for it when I need to layer blueish shades.

Zoya Belle

Today’s manicure is Zoya Belle from the Birchbox Bloggger Trio (say that one ten times fast -Ha!). This trio includes three fabulous Zoya polishes with jelly finishes- Kate, Coraline and Belle. The inspiration for these shades came from Pinterest boards of three bloggers.

Since jelly polishes are pretty sheer, I wanted to put Julep Niecy on first. Niecy is a bright pink creme polish that I just received in a swap.

Then I added one coat of Zoya Belle. Belle is a bright pink jelly with coppery glitter pieces. This is definitely a summery manicure and I love it.
