Today’s You Pick Thursday! is Deborah Lippmann Let’s Go Crazy. Its a newer shade but is a Nordstrom’s exclusive so may be a bit more tricky to hunt down.
Let’s Go Crazy is a purple jelly base with multi colored glitter. Think Happy Birthday with a purple jelly base and you’ve got it. The base is thicker and was opaque in one thicker coat or two thinner ones.
For this week’s You Pick Thursday! I’m wearing OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls from the recent Spiderman collection. I wasn’t all that thrilled with the rest of the collection so I only bought this one after reading several reviews exclaiming how great it is. I’ve been on the hunt for a white polish that’s not too stark white or streaky or difficult to apply for a while now.
My Boyfriend Scales Walls is a white creme polish -but its more of a light gray-white than a stark white so its more wearable. The first coat was all streaky so I was a little bit nervous but the second coat evened things out.
So I woke up this morning swearing today was Wednesday. I went to work thinking it was Wednesday and around four, someone said something about only one more day until the weekend. Which made me realize that 1.) how does one lose a whole day? and 2.) I forgot to do my You Pick Thursday! So when I got home I had to kind of rush around to get it done. At least the winner is a gem.
Zoya Audrina is from the Gossip collection a few years back. I got most of them during the most recent Earth Day Exchange and they are awesome. Even though they are all named after reality tv people.
Audrina is a bright purple creme polish. It almost borders on neon really. However great coverage. This is two coats though the first was completely opaque.
Today’s You Pick Thursday! is OPI French Quarter for Your Thoughts. One day I should do a gray polish comparison since I have so many. This one is from last fall’s Touring America collection. I didn’t really care for the collection as a whole but slowly more and more of them have come home with me.
French Quarter for Your Thoughts is a gray creme polish. In the bottle, it looks like a slightly darker Skull & Glossbones from the Pirates collection. On the nail, it dried a shade or two darker. Its almost like a cement shade.
The formula is typical OPI -easy to apply and wears well. I didn’t have any application issues.
Today’s You Pick Thursday! winner is Deborah Lippmann Let’s Hear It For the Boy. I picked this one up recently at a blog sale and this is the first time I’ve worn it. On a side (but semi-related) note, I just can’t bring myself to watch the Footloose remake. I just can’t. I also have issue with Lifetime remaking Steel Magnolias -even though I like the actresses involved -it just seems wrong!
Let’s Hear It For the Boy is a baby blue creme polish. I used two coats for this manicure though the polish is thick enough you might be able to get away with one.
For this week’s You Pick Thursday! Cult Nails Cruisin’ Nude is the winner. Cruisin’ Nude is from the A Day at the Races collection which was one of their first. I bought this one a while ago and its been sitting in my Cult Nails drawer ever since.
Cruisin’ Nude is a great beige-y nude polish with a great pink shimmer. I tried like hell to bring the shimmer out in my photos but didn’t succeed all that great. So, imagine a great pink shimmer when you look at these photos.
Like most Cult Nails polishes I’ve featured, this one applied great. I used two thin/medium coats here but I could have gotten away with one if I had been more careful. Although Cruisin’ Nude dried a little darker than it appears in the bottle, I still love it. What do you think?
For today’s You Pick Thursday! I’m wearing Finger Paints Pop Rock Pink. On my poll, I mistakenly called it “Punk Rock Pink”. Oops. I guess I just wanted it to have a cooler name than it does.
Punk Rock Pink is a creme coral-ly pink polish with a hot pink shimmer. The polish took a slightly longer time to dry. I think that’s par for the course with Finger Paints. Or at least for the ones I own.
Today’s You Pick Thursday! is Julep Alyson. I received Alyson in a swap not too long ago and this is my first time wearing it. I was actually going to purchase it with the last of my Julep gift card and I received it the next afternoon. Win!
Alyson is an almond creme polish. With most Julep polishes, one coat has been opaque but with Alyson I needed two. The first coat applied sort of streaky but the second coat evened everything out.
Okay so besides being completely late with my You Pick Thursday!, I also made a slight miscalculation as to my base color. Since Electrify & Fantasy Fire were tied, I went with Fantasy Fire.
Every blog post I’ve ever seen with Fantasy Fire has put it over a blue shade. I don’t have a lot of blue polishes and wanted to try something different. So I wanted to put it over a red in hopes that the shimmer would come out beautifully. Next time I’ll definitely try it over a blue though.
I put two coats of Fantasy Fire over China Glaze Velvet Bow. Velvet Bow is a dark red jelly creme hybrid. It makes Velvet Bow have a beautiful golden shimmer. Its like a lighter Lubu Heels.
This is Velvet Bow all by itself for comparison purposes.
Today’s You Pick Thursday! is Color Club Hydrangea Kiss from the Blossoming collection. I am a sucker for pastel cremes so its no big surprise that I love the whole Blossoming collection. Thankfully Ross & Burlington Coat Factory and similar stores sell entire Color Club collections cheaply.
Hydrangea Kiss is a periwinkle blue creme. I know, I know, I’m sooo not a blue polish wearer but these sorts of blues are A-OK with me. Hydrangea Kiss applied nicely and evenly so I only needed two coats for this manicure.
PS: Please ignore my particularly nasty papercut. Its healing but in a very unfortunate place for a nail polish blogger.
